Parfum (Extrait de Parfum) This is the most concentrated and long-lasting type of perfume. It contains 20-30% fragrance oils, which means it lasts anywhere from 6-8 hours or more. Parfum is typically richer and more intense, with a strong scent profile.
Eau de Parfum (EDP) Eau de Parfum has a slightly lower concentration of fragrance oils than parfum, usually around 15-20%. It’s still quite long-lasting (about 4-6 hours) and is ideal for everyday wear, as it has a strong scent but isn’t as overpowering as pure parfum.
Eau de Toilette (EDT) With a fragrance oil concentration of around 5-15%, Eau de Toilette is lighter than EDP and is perfect for warmer weather or casual settings. The scent lasts around 3-4 hours and is more subtle, making it a popular choice for daytime use.
Eau de Cologne (EDC) Eau de Cologne has the lowest concentration of fragrance oils, typically around 2-5%. It’s refreshing and light, with a shorter wear time of about 2-3 hours. This type is often used as a splash or body spray and is ideal for a quick, refreshing scent boost.
Eau Fraiche Similar to Eau de Cologne but even lighter, Eau Fraiche has only about 1-3% fragrance oils. It provides a very subtle and fleeting scent, lasting just 1-2 hours. It’s typically used for a light, fresh burst of fragrance.
Spray Perfume Spray perfumes are often sold in a variety of concentrations but are typically designed for a more convenient, quick application.
Oil-based Perfume Oil-based perfumes use oils as their base, making them less likely to evaporate quickly. They tend to be more concentrated and last longer, often around 6 hours or more.
